The day started with a very easy 4 mile morning run. I have grown to love this run as it is quiet and I can be alone with my thoughts in beautiful Tyler State Park. Coach Johnny King-Marino said this would become my favorite run and he was right…
I was happy to get this in the book to start the day. The day got more interesting as the discussion for a Boston Marathon tribute run heated up. There was a tribute run in downtown Philadelphia that some of my running friends were going to but the idea of having one of our own right in Bucks County PA began to heat up. I suggested to our running club (The Bucks County Road Runners Club http://www.bcrr.info) that we use our own Tyler State Park where in previous years we held a “Not Boston 2.62 Mile Fun Run”. The course was designed to mimic the Boston Marathon and we did our best to have the Newton Hills and Heart Break in the run where the should be. Last year Bill Rodgers actually came and ran it!! I felt this made this course the obvious choice for us to use to the run. This run was put together on very short notice but people seemed to come out of the wood work and we had a nice crown for our little Boston tribute run. Many of the runners were Boston Marathon veterans with a number of 2013 runners in attendance. This was a simple run but some how it felt so good to be a part of it. All and all a good day after so much emotion the last few days… A nice fun easy day in my Maccabi Half Marathon training. Tomorrow back to the track..
